Counting Wildflowers!!!

We've recently moved to AZ. What is your impression of AZ? Baren, dry, hot, DESERT (and that's with one S, I'll have no more of that!) ???? Well, for a time, my impression was slightly similar. One thing that I found myself doubting was the wildflower count. I thought the cactus flowers would be it. Boy was I ever wrong! On a recent trip, I saw some of the most beautiful flowers ever! I have been inspired to post a list of the wildflowers. Thankfully, this has been quite a wet winter and they are in full bloom right now! It's absolutely beautiful! The mountains are gorgeous and down in the valley, the wealth of flowers is RICH! Enjoy our list!

As it is very early in the spring, our list will be very short for now, but in time, it shall grow!  I just added links that will take you to a neat flashcard from enature.com with pictures and some information about each of these.

Popcorn Flower
Chuparosa
Brittlebush

These flowers might often be mistaken for simply a weed.  The tiny, yet beautiful flower might very well be skipped over quite often.  They are very much in full array all over the place!  We see quite a wealth of these everywhere we go.  We first spotted these in late Feb, 2010

We first spotted this beautiful delicate flower in early March, 2010.  Near Phx, AZ.
So far, we've seen it sprinkled on the side of roadways.

Sprinkled next to highways, bringing wonderful color to enjoy while driving!

On a recent trip to Colorado, we were blessed to see more beautiful wildflowers!
